What personal data we collect and why we collect it


When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.


If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

When you register to be listed on our website, the information used to create your profile will be listed on our directory and viewable to the public. This personal data includes name, address, telephone number, and email address, as well as, your profession, credentials, certification, specialty, region in which you practice, race/ethnicity, and picture. 

When you make a payment on our website your payment information goes directly to the credit card processor who is responsible for the security of your card.  We do not have access to or keep your credit card information.  

For marketing purposes and outcomes, we collect data to determine how users are engaging and responding to our website. This is also known as site usage. We collect the number of clicks and interest level, profile shares, the length of time spent on website and the web browsers used. This data is not collected at the individual level.  

When emailing a professional listed on our site, the email goes directly to the professional.  Our link will be listed so the professional knows where the referral came but we do not read or have access to the email.

 We may collect data to better understand and meet the needs of those using our websites. By analyzing the data collected, we can modify and improve or digital footprint, improve marketing strategies and improve our website functionality.
